Poem #75 of 365

I remember the summer i was in love
with Sherman Alexie.

It was so nice to be in love that
way, with someone's writing, someone's
bookflap photo.

Then, i went online one day and found
an audio file of Alexie doing a reading,
so i listened, and you could hear the
sound

like air quickly escaping through a
slash in a car tire,

that's how it sounded when my heart
deflated.

I just didn't dig his voice, and there
was a little bourgie tint in it
that also put me off.

Thank god that Jerzy Kosinski and Kafka
and Dorothy Parker, and so many others
I admire, are long dead....

Hmmm, I wonder if people feel that about
me sometimes, wishing that they had
never met me in person...?
