Poem #124 of 365

I told my students that we
would be playing loteria,
Mexican bingo, to celebrate
Cinco de Mayo.

One of the brighter kids,
and by that I mean amped,
quickly spoke up: "I don't
speak Spanish." Fine, I replied,
this game can help you learn
some Spanish, but you can
speak English too.

Right away back at me: "I don't
speak English either." Perfect
diction, unaccented.

Well, that's cool, I continued,
whatever language you're speaking
is fine with me.

Seemingly satisfied, he smiled,
"Okay."
